Initially, the filter medium itself plays a major role in interception; as the filter cake thickens, it becomes the main interception barrier, with smaller pores and higher interception accuracy for fine impurities. The filter operates dynamically with the filter cake layer, automatically adjusting interception efficiency with the accumulation of impurities. However, the thickening filter cake will increase flow resistance, reduce fluid flux, and increase the load on the entire filter system. Operators judge the filter cake thickness based on the pressure difference between inlet and outlet; when the pressure difference exceeds the set threshold, it indicates that the filter cake is too thick and needs cleaning or backwashing. This process reflects the continuous working state of the filter and is a key link for understanding its operating state and maintenance cycle.
